Jeremy R. Fudge received his ndergraduate egree in 2008 from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. He then attended the University of South Carolina to obtain his law degree, attaining a Juris Doctorate in 2011. Jeremy always knew he was interested in law as a career, but really honed his focus while taking an elective in estate planning. Jeremy was struck by the fact that every single person will someday be touched by estate planning. This might take the form of those suffering through the effects of bad planning, or it could take the form of someone doing the best possible planning for their loved ones.
After finishing law school, Jeremy served as the Litigation Supervisor/Law Clerk for the Honorable Pandora Jones-Glover of the Orangeburg County Probate Court for almost ten years. His experience in the Probate Court constantly brought him into contact with families struggling because of poor or non-existent estate planning. Many of these families went through more emotional pain than they might have, and often wasted tremendous amounts of money because of poor planning on the part of their loved one. He eventually decided that he wanted to focus his efforts on assisting people with effective estate planning so that he might help them avoid the many problems he witnessed while serving in the Probate Court. Jeremy joined Stratton and Reynolds as an attorney with a strong motivation to help people have the best possible experiences with estate planning. For Jeremy, the most rewarding part of estate planning is to help his clients ensure their wishes are carried out and that clients are able to leave the legacy they want to. A well-thought-out estate plan is often key to preserving family relationships as well as assets.
Because of his years of experience working in probate court, Jeremy brings a nuanced understanding of the probate process. This allows him to advise both probate and estate planning clients about what is likely to happen and how to make probate less difficult for those who will be grieving. This helps his estate planning clients have peace of mind now and helps their loved ones to cope with their loss without unnecessary burdens later. He can also help his probate clients understand the process and can help them work through probate with fewer problems.
Jeremy also helps clients with guardianship and conservatorship proceedings. These types of proceedings can be emotionally taxing and expensive if not done well. Jeremy’s goal is to help clients through these difficult processes with as little difficulty and expense as possible.
Jeremy’s family has lived in South Carolina for several generations. He grew up in Bamberg and now lives with his wife Kim in North Augusta. Jeremy enjoys gardening, reading, and restoring antique furniture in his spare time.
